We got up this morning to be able to see Mercury (the planet that we are currently studying) Did I mention that you can only see Mercury for a few minutes during sunrise? So, knowing how hard the boys (and their mom) are to to get up in the mornings I set my clock for 5:00 even though sunrise was scheduled for 6:38. Ok, did I also mention that Mark is on his night shift schedule, so that means he called last night at 11:00 pm? (in his defense, he always asks when he calls at 7:30 if I want him to call again)
Samuel's room is the closest to mine so I woke him first. He smiled at me groggily and then his eyes popped open and he said, "Mercury, oh boy!!" Wow, that easy.
Go to the other end of the house. Tell the boys it is time to get up, if they want to see Mercury. Benjamin actually got up no problem. He had on a pair of sweats and jacket before I even had on shoes.
So we get outside while it is still dark. Benjamin, being the night owl that he is has apparently never heard the sounds of the world waking up in the morning. He was scared and wanted to go back inside. He did not let go of my hand the entire time we were out. (He has quite the grip, let me tell you) Have I mentioned on here before that we live in the middle of nowhere? Scratch that, we live in the middle of a WHOLE BUNCH OF TREES!!! Yep, we discovered this morning that we can not see the horizon from any point in our yard. Or the Church's yard. Or the middle of the street. So getting up so early was a total bust.
When we came in I played the song Morning Has Broken on the computer. Benjamin asked who sang the song. I told him Art Garfunkel. Samuel looked at me and said "That guy has funk in his name." So maybe I did not see Mercury this morning, but I had a good laugh at a guy having "funk" in his name.

Sorry you missed it.
Yesterday I got up and the kids were sitting at the school table in their jammies doing school by flashlight.
Today I could not peel them from their beds.
How funny! What were they doing up so early?
We just all had a nap and everybody is all nice and relaxed. We had school finished by 9:00.
They wanted to see their Daddy before he went to work. Then they decided that if they got done with school early, they could play all day.
ahhh.... pretty smart kids.
