We started learning about the American Revolution yesterday. Actually we read some about the French and Indian War. And about the huge debt that needed to be payed off as a result of said war. We did not really go into a whole lot of details, just that the king thought that the colonists should be the ones to pay the debt. This morning after Bible study and Catechism, before handing them their papers I announced that homeschooling is very expensive. Since they are the ones who are benefiting from homeschooling, from now on they would pay taxes to pay off their homeschooling debts. Today there is a tax of one cent per piece of paper. And a tax of one cent per each time that a pencil is used. Nathaniel has decided that he is only going to use the backs of papers today. Benjamin is all into the idea. He is suggesting other things that could be taxed. Samuel is not too thrilled, but he is not really putting up much of a fuss. How funny, I have a Tory, a Patriot, and a Neutral. Let the revolution begin!!!!

Nathaniel is mooning you with his paper!

You are funny!!!
I *love* that idea!!!! Keep us posted.
Didn't you find it intriguing that King George actually had a reason to tax us? I hate to say this out loud.....but I think that I probably would have been a tory. :)

I think I would be, too. I find myself having to try harder and harder to bite my tongue every time I hear someone say "Our Founding Fathers fought for Godly principles..." What I WANT to say is "really, I thought we were supposed to submit to authority, render to Caesar... that sort of thing" Glad to know I am not the only one.
Okay guys, don't forget that it wasn't about being taxed. it was about taxation without representation...
AHH!!! It's a Patriot ready to turn in us in as Tories!!!
Just another example of why I married you. Gosh, you are cool!!!
That is great, Kelli, what a fun idea. LOL maybe if Mrs. Goss had thought of stuff like that we would have paid more attention in her class!
Poor Mrs Goss!! Can you imagine what some of our class would have done to her?!?!?!
OFF with her head!
I mean, um, "Give me liberty, or give me DEATH!"
To arms, to arms!
AHHH!!! So basically you are into any kind of revolution, huh??
What a great teaching idea! And by the way, Kelli, you are tagged! Here is what you do:
Go to your picture files on your computer. Open the fourth folder of your pictures and click on the fourth picture in that folder. No Exceptions!! And then post that picture to your blog. I just posted our picture on my blog this morning and I'll be waiting to see yours! Have a great day!
I love to see the resourcefulness of one child, the "tax happy frenzy" of another, and the passive aggressive response of the third. Pretty representative of the differences in human nature, wouldn't you say?
Yes,it is. I will say, however, that they were ALL happy when tax was repealed. I wonder what Queen Mom and King Dad are going to do with our $1.24. Hmm... perhaps we should walk to the store and buy a drink to split.
